Chairman
Praises Staff for September 11th Efforts
In a moving
and heartfelt tribute, Russell Silverman, chairman of the UAHC Board
of Trustees, praised the UAHC staff for their efforts on September
11th.
"The response
of Rabbi Yoffie and all those who work for the UAHC was remarkable
in its focus and rapidity," said Silverman, who was in New
York on that fateful day. "By two o'clock that afternoon, the
New York staff had put together most of the information your congregations
received that evening,"he said. "They did this despite
the dual strains of concern about missing relatives who worked in
the World Trade Center and the stress of a city under attack. Their
extraordinary efforts should not go unrecognized," he said.
Silverman announced the formation of two new committees. The first
will work with congregations on long-range and strategic financial
planning, the second to guide congregations through a comprehensive
self-assessment.
Silverman also
asked all the delegates to be sure to register to vote for the World
Zionist Organization elections.
