Preconvention Programs, Tuesday & Wednesday
 

Preconvention programs are designed for personal and communal Jewish growth. Each one begins at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, December 4, and concludes at noon on Wednesday, December 5. The $85 registration fee includes Tuesday evening dinner and all materials. Preregistration is required for all programs

Learn to Read Hebrew: An Intensive Beginning Course

PC02   Deepening Your Beginning Hebrew Knowledge
PC03   Peace in Israel: Can a Great Miracle Happen There? Gain a deeper understanding of the key obstacles to peace between Israel and her neighbors while exploring with the experts how to break the impasse.

PC06   Our Heritage of Jewish Music: An interactive exploration of Jewish music throughout the generations, presented by members of the American Conference of Cantors
PC07   Kehillat Chesed: Transforming Our Congregations into Caring Communities. Experience the transforming power of a synagogue community as you learn how to create caring networks and bereavement and crisis support groups. Study ways to include in congregational life alternative families and those with special needs and mental illness from a skilled team of clergy, lay leaders, and mental health, education, and social work professionals.
PC08   From Here to There: Creating a Social Action Congregation: An in-depth look at ways to involve more congregants in social justice programming while integrating social justice into all areas of congregational life, with Al Vorspan, Director Emeritus of the Commission on Social Action, and Rabbi Marc Israel, Director of Congregational Relations at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism.
PC09   Shaarei Kashrut: Contemporary Applications of Jewish Values through Dietary Laws, Ethics, and Reform Practice: Personal and synagogue approaches to issues of dietary laws will be addressed through a wide spectrum of choices, philosophies, and challenges. This program is cosponsored by the CCAR Task Force on Kashrut and HUC-JIR.
PC10   Synagogue 2000 Team Check-In: For members of current UAHC/S2K teams only. Continued skill building and problem solving for congregational teams currently working on the S2K curriculum.
